There exist several needs of more flexible, sustainable and efficient materials handling and intralogistics. During the little bit more than past 10 years, there have been discussion concerning Industry 4.0 as the 4th industrial revolution providing the next leap and stage in productivity particularly in European Manufacturing sector, while the other countries have their own concepts or terminology for the same purposes.

After working with the concept a long-time, LIMOWA has also tried to put together the other new big issue AI, with Logistics concepts inside Industry 4.0. During the RDI project ”AILOG4.0 – Artificial Intelligence Enforced Logistics 4.0”, we have discussed the concepts further, and see there actually some insights already towards the next 5th generation – putting all these together, while still have human-centricity – particularly in the context of intralogistics, while handling heterogenous products and flows. And this may apply not only in manufacturing context, but also in trade, construction and even in healthcare.

As a result, we would like to point out a short conversation paper regarding the concepts and content.
